The Privilege of God's Presence

What was your family life like growing up? Were your parents always at home, or were they away on business? Did you have parents who actively sought to have a relationship with you, or were you unjustly ignored?

We know what we want from our earthly families. Parents must have relationship with their children. Simply providing money for education and food is not sufficient. When parents do not have intimate relationship with their kids ,there are serious consequences and scars that will ultimately result. Those who were raised in broken homes or with abusive parents are more than aware of this problem.

God is our creator, and He could have ended our relationship at that. He could have provided just for our physical needs and left our relationship at that. However, our God chose to be actively always with us. This is a privilege. James Smith writes:" The presence of God. This is either God's natural presence - or gracious presence. God is present with all his creatures by necessary of nature, being infinite, and filling all space. But he is graciously present with his people0 as a Father with his children, or a shepherd with his flock."

God does not simply exist. He is incredibly concerned with each person's daily life. He is highly invested in the decisions we make in life, and He wants what is best for us. Unlike our parents (after all, no parent is perfect or omniscient), God really and truly knows what is best for us. He wants us to live our lives to the maximum capacity, which is with Him.
