How often do you come before the God of creation? Every day? Every week? Is spending time with God a chore, or is it something you are actually eager to do? Do you pray because you believe it somehow makes your life magically better, or is prayer a time when you intimately spend time with a dear friend?
Christ is meant to be someone we crave. Or perhaps you can think of it this way: The longer we are apart from our loved ones, the more and more we begin to miss them. We miss their love, their very presence. Is this how we approach our relationship with God, as a longing just to be with Him? Randy Alcorn writes: "This is what we were made for: to fellowship with God, to enjoy His company and the warmth of His love, to worship Him wholeheartedly in the midst of the beauty of His creation."
We were made, designed, to long for Him. But all too often we are distracted by this world we live in. We being to make substitutions for Christ. All too soon, those substitutions becomes replacements, and we no longer desire what we once had. Finding salvation in God is not a one-time thing. He makes every day new, and He makes us new every day. Therefore, we should renew our longing for Him every day, and we do that by spending time with God every day. Our relationship with Christ is dynamic, not static.
