Fortunately, our God loves us. 1 John 3:19-20 states, "This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our heart condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything."
This verse promises freedom from guilt and anxiety when we enter His presence. Satan will always be there to attack us, but as John Piper writes, "The accusations of the devil are nullified when we are under the blood of the Lamb - that is, when we are 'in' the Son of God who died for us."
Christ is great than who we are, and He is greater than the devil. When we stand firm in God and in God's word, the devil has no choice but to flee from us. This is the victory that we have in the resurrection of Christ. But note that this does not mean any of these situations are easy, or that we are allowed to simply stand back. Rather, we engage in our relationship with Christ, we pursue Christ through His word and through intimate times of prayer. After all, in order to find rest in the presence of God, we need to be in the presence of God.
