God Reasons with Us

The mind is a magnificent gift that God gave to humanity. The human brain is still considered to be the most advanced computer in existence. While traditional computers might perform calculations faster, the human brain posses the unique ability to grow, learn, and expand.

People all too often seem to see a dissonance between science and religion. Many people seem to think that you can either have academic intelligence or faith in God, but not both.

God created us to reason. God gave us a brain, and this should encourage us to utilize God's gift. There are limitations to reason, just as there are limitations to everything that mankind hopes to achieve or pursue. No one will ever gain access to heaven through reason alone, but only by the grace of God. Nonetheless, God very often reason with us throughout the Bible. Charles Spurgeon contends, "The sinful condition of men is terrible in the extreme.... God himself interposes to produce a chance. The proposal of peace is always from His side. He urges that a conference be held at once, 'Come, and let us reason together.'"

What's amazing about this is that God chooses to speak with us as intelligent beings. He does not simply say, "Do as you are told because U am God!" God reasons with us to address our very specific thoughts and concerns. God does not run away from our logical and philosophical inquires. Amazingly, God is present with us, even in our "rational doubt.
