1 Peter 1:14-15: "As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do."
As a child, did you always listen to your parents? There were times when obeying our parents was easy, and perhaps there were some times when we did not want to obey them. As children, our only real desire is to play. However, that does not make it any less necessary to brush our teeth or clean our room. But we obey (eventually). Why? Not because we want to but because we love our parents. We obey because we trust that they know what they are doing. We are called children of the Living God. And as such, we are meant to obey, like little children, once more. Christ has called us to be mirrors of Him in all that we do, and in all that we are . John Piper states, "In all our behavior the holiness of God becomes the dominating, all-shaping reality of life."
Because one of the attributes of Christ is holiness, we too are meant to become holy. As we saw earlier in Ezekiel 36, we are called to be holy, so that Christ's Holy name is known throughout the world. What's more amazing is that Christ equips us to do so.
