Matthew 11:29-30: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest... For my yoke is easy and my burden is light"
Burdens come in many shapes and sizes. Some of the situations we face are physical in nature, why otheres are more spiritual. We wrestle with circumstances because they challenge us. Sometimes we are burdened by our sin, and we groan because we continue to do what we do not want to do, as Paul talks about in Romans 7.
As we plunge into our walk with Christ, we will also find ourselves challenged to become more like Christ. Randy Alcorn suggests that: "Many of us are convinced we should be more holy, but we've gone about it wrong. To be holy in our strength, and for our glory, is to be distinctly unholy. To be holy in Christ's strength and for his glory... that's our calling, and our joy."
Everything that we have, everything that we find ourselves capable of doing, is a gift from God. Waking up this morning is a gift from God. Being able to share our testimony is a gift from God. Finding ourselves more and more holy is also a gift from God. When we have this eternal perspective, we should realize that Christ's burden is light indeed. He has equipped us with what we have for a reason, and He will give us the tools to accomplish His goals in our lives. We've been called to carry a burden, and we are equipped to do so, because God's strength runs through us.
